Agenda Updates on the program (speakers, panellists and discussants). Note: We used the timed agenda as the reference document for the meeting File:ILRI@40 Nairobi timed agenda 01Oct14 organizers.docx
Below is a summary of the points discussed
Inaugural address by cabinet secretary
- Ephraim to see him next week [week of 2 Sept] to get confirmation of his attendance and to brief him on what is required of him.
- His address should include remarks from ‘Kenya’ as one of the founding agencies.
- In the program, change the title of the slot to read "Inaugural address" not "Inaugural address and opening" because the cabinet secretary is not opening the event
- Ed to follow up with Ephraim regarding the framing of the CS’s speech. Shirley will provide some key points for the speech.
Founding agencies
- Only the Denmark representative has replied and confirmed that the Danish ambassador will attend.
- Nadine to make follow-up calls to the other embassy representatives and Achim Steiner (UNEP).
Keynote speaker
- Ibrahim Mayaki is not available.
- Shirley to follow up and coordinate with Nadine re: contacting Papa Seck to see if he is available.
- Consider Yemi Akinbamijo as a fallback option if Papa Seck is not available.
Panel discussion
- Three panellists confirmed: Fina Opio (ASARECA), Kipkurui arap Lang’at (New KCC) and Joseph Langat Kipkoech (SNV)
- Need to identify others (one or at most two) to represent a development partner [possibly FAO – Modibo Traore or Augusta Abate] and/or government/university partner [possibly Agnes Kalibata, VC University of Rwanda].
- Shirley to call Modibo.
- Nadine to write to the confirmed panelists and put them in contact with Ed.
- Nadine to call Augusta and Agnes.
Discussants (principal secretaries livestock, health, environment...)
- After the panel discussion, they will each be given 1-2 minutes to respond to the issues raised.
- Nadine to follow up and confirm which principal secretaries will attend
Communication
- Muthoni will be the event MC
- Tezira to follow up with Peter, Susan and Ewen to ensure that what we are planning for communications for the Nairobi event ties in with the overall ILRI@40 communication plan.
- Muthoni to handle arrangements for local media coverage
AOB
- Edit Ed’s designation to read ‘PICO-Eastern Africa’ not ‘Pico Team, Kenya’
- Add info about the evening cocktail/reception
