Summary of discussions

Involvement of local community

  • IMC assigned Ephy, who is ILRI's focal point for contact with the local community, to coordinate the involvement of the local community in ILRI @ 40 through the local county commissioner. Jimmy would want the county commissioner to attend, together with some county representatives and community leaders [total 10-15 people]. The county representative can be included in the program to give 2-3 minute welcome remarks.
  • We need to ensure that we also invite representatives of all research regulatory authorities.

Follow-up of action points from previous meeting

  • Program: Needs to be refined based on comments received [comments are posted on the Google Doc].
  • List of invitees: Need to clean up the list that Muthoni circulated. Rose to start on this, based on the names suggested by Romano and Ephy.
  • Meeting rooms: All key meeting rooms have been booked for the day. Need to also book them the day before and after for preparation and clean-up
  • Keynote speaker: Jo to contact Ruth Oniang'o and the three West African professors to see if they would be interested and available.
  • Afternoon session: DDGs are going to champion this. Emails to be sent soon to scientists and research teams.
  • Facilitators: Need to start thinking about the overall event facilitator and internal facilitators for the roundtable sessions

AOB Need to prepare a checklist of immediate actions and assign who does what

  • Ephy to share their details of research regulatory authorities who need to be invited
  • Rose to start cleaning up the list of invitees
  • Patrick to book meeting rooms 30 Sept and 2 Oct for preparation & clean-up
  • Jo to contact potential keynote speakers
